The JavaPOS v1.7 Guide for Application and Device Programmers is now available as a single document in PDF format (9.12MB) or ZIP format (4.85MB).

The UnifiedPOS v1.7 specification defines the UML models for a wide variety of retail POS peripherals. It contains definitions for two additional device types above and beyond those contained in UnifiedPOS v1.6:

The most obvious change in the new UnifiedPOS release is the fact that both the OPOS and JavaPOS specifications have now been completely folded into it.

Appendix B of the UnifiedPOS v1.7 specification contains the 96 page mapping to the Java platform (JavaPOS), including sections specifically covering:
